Dr. Alvin Mays

Rev. Alvin L. Mays was called to serve the Willow Chute Missionary Baptist Church in June 2009. Prior to coming to Willow Chute Rev. Mays served 13 years serving a church in Desoto Parish, about 30 miles south of Shreveport. His vision for Willow Chute involves leading the church to become United, Efficient and Evangelistic. The vision fits well with the church motto "A Church that Cares about People".  This will be accomplished by focusing on Christian Education. Pastor Mays received his early Christian Education at the Trinity Baptist Church in Shreveport, where he confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. He later united with the Morningstar Baptist Church, where he confessed his call to the gospel ministry, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Murphy L Hunt. He was licensed to exercise the gift of preaching in September 1994, and ordained to the gospel ministry in June 1995

Pastor Mays has served as the Vice President of the Sunday School for the Northwestern Louisiana Baptist Association, Vice President of the Desoto Christian Leadership Council, and as an Associate Director for the Congress of Christian Education of the 13th District Baptist Association. He received a Bachelor of General Studies from Louisiana Tech University; a Master of Arts Degree from the School of Biblical Studies at Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary; and an Honorary Doctor of Divivnityfrom Inter-Baptist Theological Seminary, Inc.

Pastor Mays retired after a 30 year career at Libbey Glass, Inc. He is married to the former Linda Marie Robinson, and they have three grown children, LaCretia, Eric (Victoria) and Corey (Nataysha); also ten grand-children and three great grand-children

To God be the Glory for all the things He has done.
